To become a member of the Portland Regional Group of the Horseless Carriage Club, you have an interest in cars 1932 and older. Since we are a restoration, preservation, and touring club of antique automobiles, our vintage cars are unmodified from the original. Customs and hot-rods do not qualify.
The Portland Regional Group is chapter of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. To become a PRG member, you must also join the National Horseless Carriage Club.
Finally, along with five other antique car clubs in the Portland area, we operate the Portland Swap Meet. Much of our club's funding comes from revenue generated by the swap meet. A requirement of PRG membership is to serve a duty shift once a year at the swap meet. These duty shifts are typically two to three hours, and involve monitoring door or gate access and giving information to visitors.
So, what do you get for accomplishing these membership requirements? First of course, is the friendship and experience from our members. In addition, every tour or event we put on, whether large or small, is funded in large part by club revenues. In short, we travel in style to top-notch destinations, and we eat really well.
If you'd like to see what we're like, come along as a guest. We have dozens of members who have antique cars with a back seat, and you'll have a great time along the way. Just visit our Contact page, and get in touch!
